| Абстракт | In recent years, the sex ratio of Black Sea populations of Mytilus galloprovincialis has been reported to shift towards a male bias, potentially reflecting female-to-male sex inversion and female-biased mortality. We tested how key stressors affect sex inversion and mortality in two size classes (35 and 60 mm shell length) using (i) laboratory exposures to elevated temperature, diesel fuel and copper, and (ii) a parallel field caging experiment comparing a semi-enclosed urban harbour and an offshore mussel farm. In the laboratory, sex inversion increased across stressors in the order of temperature, diesel fuel and copper. Copper produced the highest inversion in both size classes, while smaller mussels showed greater inversion under elevated temperature than larger individuals. In the field, both sex inversion in females and female mortality were higher at the harbour than at the farm. Because chemical exposures were applied as standardised nominal dosing scenarios without analytical verification of exposure concentrations in the water, laboratory results are interpreted as a comparative stressor ranking rather than concentration-based dose–response relationships. The combined field-laboratory evidence highlights environmental conditions under which sex structure and survival are at risk in coastal mussel stocks and provides a practical basis for screening site suitability for Black Sea mussel aquaculture under increasing anthropogenic pressure and warming.
