Абстракт | This review presents the results of an analysis of long-term changes in the environmental status of the Sevastopol Bay (southern-western part of Crimean Peninsula, the Black Sea) based on the known variations in long-term pressure of hydrocarbon pollution and related responses of macrofaunal communities. Analysis of various measured indices of the “sediments–benthos” complex reveals the following: (1) that the long-lasting anthropogenic load has already determined the different status of all benthic habitats along established gradients of oil pollution; and (2) that the registered deterioration in physicochemical profile of bottom surface in northern-western part of the Bay water area (toward the prevalence of reductive conditions) testifies to the possibility of spread of the pollution to the areas previously considered as environmentally prosperous. |
