Абстракт | The salt lake ecosystems have the unique peculiarities in their structure, functioning and dynamics. Despite the environmental severity in hypersaline lakes there is quite high biodiversity. In inland waters at salinity higher than 1-2 g/L there is a decrease of species richness with a salinity increase, which was documented for different eukaryotic organism groups-microalgae, protists, plants, invertebrates, fishes. To analyze general trends we may look on biodiversity in the Crimean hypersaline lakes. Total biodiversity in the Crimean saline/hypersaline lakes includes more than 200 species of bacteria and archaea, of which at least 100 species are cyanobacteria, and more than 290 species of eukaryotic organisms, including 190 unicellular ones. Species richness was negatively related to salinity. The energy inputs into the hypersaline aquatic ecosystems are much more diversified than into the freshwater and marine ones. Despite the severity of the environment, saline and hypersaline lakes often demonstrate the highest biological productivity. A salinity increase also leads to an increase of the share of primary production released into the environment as exopolysaccharides, which may be used as food only by osmotrophic organisms. Alternative stable states in the temporal dynamics of the ecosystems have been observed. |
