Абстракт The Crimean hypersaline ecosystems had been formed approximately 6.5-7000 years ago. However, recent 70 years they were stressed upon the different kinds of anthropogenic impact, caused chemical and microbial pollution of the water, desalination, eutrofication, and etc. Surely the coupling of natural and anthropogenic stressors combined with a lack of regulation resulted in the current threat to a large part of coastal marine and hypersaline ecosystems. Data of hypersaline water ecotoxicity are very limited, while they are very important for risk assessment purposes, suitability of using of their resources and reconstruction of natural history. Water and sediments of the Crimean hypersaline lakes are used for salt and spa materials production, Artemia harvesting, pharmacological and balneological purposes, and local ecosystem services. For understanding the mechanisms of the organism adaptation to extreme conditions in hypersaline biotope, it is necessary to study both chemical and biological properties of the water in salt lakes. The present study focuses on the research of water quality in three selected Crimean salt lakes about salinity, pH, oxygen and nitrogen, heavy metals (Pb, Cd and Cu) concentration in autumn water samples, and the factors, which influence on these characteristics. The significant differences between checked parameters were observed. Study of Artemia cysts characteristics showed significant differences among the samples, collected in three tested biotops. Chemiluminescence values of cysts extracts, attributed with ROS (reactive oxygen species) level varied significantly also. The continuous seasonal monitoring of water quality and Artemia population status in selected hypersaline lakes are required for their protection against natural and anthropogenic stressors and further management optimization.
